In a remarkable event for refereeing development, Daniele Orsato, one of the most renowned referees globally, participated in the IberCup Cascais as a referee mentor. This opportunity emerged from the strategic partnership between Referee Abroad and the Italian Referees Association (AIA, Associazione Italiana Arbitri), highlighting a commitment to elevating refereeing standards on an international scale.
Daniele Orsato, celebrated for his extensive career in top-tier football, including officiating at the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, and numerous Serie A matches, brought a wealth of experience to the IberCup Cascais. Known for his precise decision-making and authoritative presence on the field, Orsato observed various matches during the tournament, providing detailed feedback to the participating referees. His insights were invaluable in helping the referees refine their skills and approach to officiating.
In addition to his observational role, Orsato conducted a masterclass, focusing on critical aspects of refereeing such as character, leadership, and communication. His advice was aimed at enhancing referees’ ability to manage games effectively, lead with confidence, and communicate clearly with players and colleagues. The session was an exceptional opportunity for referees to engage with one of the game’s top officials, gaining perspectives crucial for their professional growth.
Throughout the tournament, Orsato also took the time to answer questions from referees, offering personalized guidance and sharing his extensive knowledge and experience. This interaction was highly valued by the participants, who benefited from his direct mentorship and practical advice.
Our President, Daniele Curcio, extends heartfelt thanks to the AIA for sending such a distinguished mentor. “We are immensely grateful to AIA for facilitating Daniele Orsato’s participation.
