A former FIFA referee, for many years Zdravko Jokic, of Serbia, has been a staple in international football, having been of UEFA’s most respected referee observers for the past decade or so. Zdravko, who needs no introduction to the Referee Abroad community, will join this year’s IberCup Estoril in Portugal! He will coach and offer his feedback, tips and advice to our group of referees.

A former professional football player for OFK Beograd, Jokic became a referee after retiring from playing football. He quickly climbed the ladder achieving promotion to Serbia’s top division and received his FIFA badge in 1988, at age 42. He is one of the very few people in the refereeing world to have claimed games at UEFA level both as a player and a referee.

In his career as a UEFA referee observer he acted as a coach and observer for many of Europe’s top referees including fellow countryman Milorad Mazic, and foreign refereeing celebrities such as Mark Clattenburg, Howard Webb, Felix Brych and many more. At various stages in his career he held positions of responsibility in the refereeing department of Serbia.

Zdravko is a long time friend of Referee Abroad having attended other tournaments in the past, including the IberCup Estoril and Paris World Games. He also acted as a coach of the Referee Abroad Referee Academy.

Referee Abroad is the exclusive provider of referees to all IberCup tournaments in Europe, including IberCup Spain, Cascais, Andalucia, Estoril and Barcelona. Our relationship with IberCup dates back to the first ever edition in 2010, and we now send over 300 referees annually to their events.

Interested in participating as a referee at the IberCup Estoril? We still have a very limited number of places available – find out more and apply now here.

Welcome back, Zdravko. We are looking forward to meeting you once again!
