The Girls Academy is a prestigious national league in the United States, featuring top female soccer clubs from across the country. With dozens of elite programs competing across multiple regional conferences, the league showcases the highest standards of youth girls’ football and culminates in highly competitive national events throughout the season.
In collaboration with US Officials, Referee Abroad offers a unique opportunity for referees—especially female referees, though male referees are also welcome—to officiate at this high-level event taking place at the SilverLakes Sports Complex in Norco, California.
This is an outstanding opportunity for international referees to experience top-level girls’ soccer in the United States while officiating at one of the country’s premier development environments.
Referees selected for the tournament will officiate at the SilverLakes Sports Complex in Norco, California, one of the leading multi-field sports venues on the West Coast. The all-inclusive participation fee covers essential aspects such as international travel in basic economy, full accommodation for the duration of the stay, rental cars for transportation, and meals on tournament days (excluding dinner).
To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a minimum of one year of refereeing experience, and come from a country eligible for visa-free entry. The application process requires referees to provide documentation including a copy of their passport, referee license, a letter of authorization from their federation, a summary of their refereeing experience, proof of a background check, and a SafeSport training certificate (with a provided course link).
Confirmation of participation will depend on the approval of all submitted paperwork.
All referees participating in the tournament will stay at a hotel conveniently located near the sports complex. They will be accommodated in twin rooms with fellow referees to foster camaraderie. While the specific hotel name will be confirmed closer to the event, previous tournaments have featured well-known establishments such as Marriott and Hilton. This arrangement ensures both comfort and proximity to the competition venue.
Norco, located in Southern California’s Inland Empire, offers visitors a relaxed atmosphere with easy access to some of the region’s most popular and tourist-friendly destinations. While the city is known for its unique Western heritage, it is also perfectly positioned for exploring major attractions across Los Angeles, Orange County, and the surrounding area.
Just a short drive away, visitors can experience world-famous theme parks such as the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, or relax along the scenic Pacific coastline at popular beach destinations like Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. For shopping and entertainment, Ontario Mills—one of the largest outlet malls in California—offers a wide selection of stores, restaurants, and leisure options.
With its sunny Southern California climate and convenient location near beaches, theme parks, and major shopping areas, Norco serves as a comfortable and accessible base for visitors looking to combine sports participation with memorable travel experiences.
For international travelers heading to Norco, the most convenient option is Ontario International Airport (ONT), located just a short drive from the city and offering a growing number of domestic and international connections. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), about an hour’s drive away depending on traffic, is the main international gateway to Southern California with extensive worldwide flight options.
Additional alternatives include John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County and Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), both of which provide convenient domestic connections and easy access to the region. Transportation from the airport includes rental cars, ride-share services, and shuttle options.
Referee Abroad will handle and book all travel arrangements for referees, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free journey from departure to arrival.

A fantastic experience with Referee Abroad, thanks to the opportunity to take part in both the Donosti Cup and the Porto International Cup. Two international tournaments that provided an extraordinary opportunity for both refereeing and personal growth. The professionalism and excellent organisation, together with the opportunity to interact with referees and football communities from different countries, made both experiences truly unique. I highly recommend Referee Abroad to any referee looking to develop, challenge themselves and experience international football. ⚽️🌍Posted on Google![]()

Referee Abroad has been an outstanding experience from start to finish. The entire organisation has a real family feel, and you’re made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Everyone—staff, mentors, and fellow referees—is incredibly friendly, supportive, and always willing to help you grow. Despite the warm atmosphere, the setup is also very professional. The communication is clear, the organisation is well structured, and the feedback you receive is genuinely useful for improving your refereeing. The tournaments are run smoothly and you always feel looked after both on and off the pitch. Whether you’re a new referee looking to build confidence or someone with experience wanting to challenge yourself in a different environment, Referee Abroad is a fantastic opportunity. It’s rare to find a programme that combines professionalism with such an inclusive, family-like community — but this one does exactly that. Highly recommended.+2Posted on Google![]()
