To be eligible, referees must be at least 16 years of age. Applicants under the age of 18 are welcome to participate but must submit a signed parental consent form before the tournament.
Referees at the IberCup Cascais are accommodated in hotels or serviced apartments in the Cascais and Estoril area, offering a comfortable and convenient base throughout the tournament.
Accommodation is in shared rooms, typically with two or three referees per room, creating an excellent opportunity to meet fellow officials from around the world while keeping participation costs affordable.
The exact accommodation is confirmed closer to the tournament and may vary from year to year depending on availability and the size of the referee group. In previous editions, Referee Abroad has used properties such as Juiceven Studios and Hotel Alvorada, among others. While the style of accommodation may differ, all options are selected for their convenience, safety and suitability for tournament participants.
The accommodation is generally located within easy reach of the tournament venues, with transport provided throughout the event.
The hotel stay forms an important part of the IberCup Cascais experience, combining comfortable accommodation with the opportunity to spend a week refereeing international football in one of Portugal’s most attractive coastal destinations.
Referees at the IberCup Cascais have the chance to explore the rich history and vibrant culture of Cascais and nearby Lisbon. During downtime, referees can wander through Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods like Alfama and visit landmarks such as the Belem Tower. With its vibrant markets, traditional cuisine, and scenic waterfronts, Cascais offers a perfect blend of relaxation and cultural immersion. Referees can unwind at Praia do Guincho, stroll along the Cascais waterfront, or enjoy a tram ride through Lisbon’s hills. Whether savoring local pastries at Pasteis de Belem or soaking in the city’s charm, the leisure opportunities are endless.
Referees traveling to the IberCup Cascais will find Lisbon International Airport a well-connected hub, with flights from major global destinations. The airport offers a variety of airline options, ensuring referees can select the most convenient route. Upon arrival, referees benefit from public transport reimbursement for their journey from the airport to Cascais, using a combination of metro and train services. This thoughtful arrangement simplifies travel logistics and allows referees to seamlessly transition into the tournament atmosphere. Hassle-free transport ensures referees can focus on the excitement of the event.

A fantastic experience with Referee Abroad, thanks to the opportunity to take part in both the Donosti Cup and the Porto International Cup. Two international tournaments that provided an extraordinary opportunity for both refereeing and personal growth. The professionalism and excellent organisation, together with the opportunity to interact with referees and football communities from different countries, made both experiences truly unique. I highly recommend Referee Abroad to any referee looking to develop, challenge themselves and experience international football. ⚽️🌍Posted on Google![]()

Referee Abroad has been an outstanding experience from start to finish. The entire organisation has a real family feel, and you’re made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Everyone—staff, mentors, and fellow referees—is incredibly friendly, supportive, and always willing to help you grow. Despite the warm atmosphere, the setup is also very professional. The communication is clear, the organisation is well structured, and the feedback you receive is genuinely useful for improving your refereeing. The tournaments are run smoothly and you always feel looked after both on and off the pitch. Whether you’re a new referee looking to build confidence or someone with experience wanting to challenge yourself in a different environment, Referee Abroad is a fantastic opportunity. It’s rare to find a programme that combines professionalism with such an inclusive, family-like community — but this one does exactly that. Highly recommended.+2Posted on Google![]()
