Referees selected for the Maxim Events Invitational will be part of a small international team of approximately 12 officials, creating a close-knit and highly professional environment throughout the event. Officials can expect to referee between four and five shortened matches per day, gaining valuable experience across a variety of age groups and playing styles. The tournament is split into two separate weekends, with the first dedicated to girls’ football and the second to boys’ football, while several free days in between provide the perfect opportunity to relax, explore Malaysia or travel within the region. Referees will stay in comfortable hotels in the Kuala Lumpur area, with breakfast and dinner included as part of the package. Featuring some of Asia-Pacific’s leading youth academies and elite teams, the Maxim Events Invitational offers an ideal combination of high-level football, international refereeing development and an unforgettable holiday experience in one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting destinations.
Referees at the Maxim Events Invitational will stay in comfortable hotels in the Kuala Lumpur area for the entire duration of the event, including the free days between the girls’ and boys’ tournaments. Accommodation is provided in twin or triple rooms, allowing officials to enjoy both comfort and the social aspect of travelling with fellow referees from around the world. The hotels are conveniently located with easy access to tournament venues, restaurants and local attractions, making them an excellent base from which to enjoy both the football and everything that Kuala Lumpur has to offer. The extended stay also gives referees the opportunity to explore the city, relax during their time off and make the most of their experience in Malaysia.
The Maxim Events Invitational takes place in Kuala Lumpur, the dynamic capital of Malaysia and one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting destinations. Known for its iconic Petronas Twin Towers, vibrant street food scene and unique blend of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures, Kuala Lumpur offers visitors an unforgettable mix of modern city life and rich cultural heritage. English is widely spoken, the city is safe and easy to navigate, and the cost of living remains affordable compared to many international destinations. From bustling markets and world-class shopping centres to cultural landmarks and nearby tropical attractions, Kuala Lumpur provides the perfect setting for referees looking to combine international football with an exceptional travel experience.
Kuala Lumpur is one of Southeast Asia’s most accessible travel hubs, making it easy for referees to reach the tournament from almost anywhere in the world. The city is served by Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), one of the region’s busiest airports, offering direct connections to major cities across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Oceania. Low-cost carriers such as AirAsia also provide extensive regional connections, making travel within Asia particularly affordable. From the airport, Kuala Lumpur can be reached quickly via train, bus or taxi services. Referees wishing to extend their stay will also find excellent transport links to destinations such as Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket and Bali, making the tournament an ideal opportunity to combine international refereeing with further travel around Southeast Asia.

A fantastic experience with Referee Abroad, thanks to the opportunity to take part in both the Donosti Cup and the Porto International Cup. Two international tournaments that provided an extraordinary opportunity for both refereeing and personal growth. The professionalism and excellent organisation, together with the opportunity to interact with referees and football communities from different countries, made both experiences truly unique. I highly recommend Referee Abroad to any referee looking to develop, challenge themselves and experience international football. ⚽️🌍Posted on Google![]()

Referee Abroad has been an outstanding experience from start to finish. The entire organisation has a real family feel, and you’re made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Everyone—staff, mentors, and fellow referees—is incredibly friendly, supportive, and always willing to help you grow. Despite the warm atmosphere, the setup is also very professional. The communication is clear, the organisation is well structured, and the feedback you receive is genuinely useful for improving your refereeing. The tournaments are run smoothly and you always feel looked after both on and off the pitch. Whether you’re a new referee looking to build confidence or someone with experience wanting to challenge yourself in a different environment, Referee Abroad is a fantastic opportunity. It’s rare to find a programme that combines professionalism with such an inclusive, family-like community — but this one does exactly that. Highly recommended.+2Posted on Google![]()
