To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a minimum of one year of refereeing experience, and come from a country eligible for visa-free entry. The application process requires referees to provide necessary documentation, including a copy of their passport, referee license, a letter of permission from their federation, a summary of refereeing experience, proof of a background check, and a SafeSport training certificate (with a provided course link). Confirmation of participation is subject to the approval of all submitted paperwork.
Referees participating in the tournament will be housed at a hotel conveniently located near the sports complex, sharing twin rooms with fellow referees. On free days between tournament events, they will enjoy stays in a villa either in Sarasota or Orlando, providing a comfortable and relaxing environment. This setup fosters both comfort and camaraderie, allowing referees to unwind and explore the attractions in Sarasota and Orlando during their downtime.
Sarasota, located on Florida’s beautiful Gulf Coast, is the perfect destination to combine world-class refereeing with an unforgettable holiday. Famous for its year-round sunshine, white-sand beaches, and vibrant atmosphere, Sarasota offers something for everyone. Relax at the award-winning Siesta Key Beach, explore the impressive Ringling Museum of Art, or discover the tropical beauty of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. If you’re looking for shopping, restaurants, and evening entertainment, St. Armands Circle is a must-visit. Whether you want to unwind by the ocean, experience Florida’s cultural side, or explore the local attractions during your free time, Sarasota provides the ideal setting for an incredible tournament experience.
Referees are expected to arrive on 11 February and depart on 22 February. For international travelers heading to Sarasota, Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) is the most convenient choice, offering direct flights and located just a short drive from the city. Alternatively, Tampa International Airport (TPA), about an hour away, provides broader international connections. Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Miami International Airport (MIA) are also viable options for additional flexibility. Transportation options include shuttles and rental cars. Referee Abroad will handle and book all travel arrangements for referees to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey.

A fantastic experience with Referee Abroad, thanks to the opportunity to take part in both the Donosti Cup and the Porto International Cup. Two international tournaments that provided an extraordinary opportunity for both refereeing and personal growth. The professionalism and excellent organisation, together with the opportunity to interact with referees and football communities from different countries, made both experiences truly unique. I highly recommend Referee Abroad to any referee looking to develop, challenge themselves and experience international football. โฝ๏ธ๐Posted on Google![]()

Referee Abroad has been an outstanding experience from start to finish. The entire organisation has a real family feel, and youโre made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Everyoneโstaff, mentors, and fellow refereesโis incredibly friendly, supportive, and always willing to help you grow. Despite the warm atmosphere, the setup is also very professional. The communication is clear, the organisation is well structured, and the feedback you receive is genuinely useful for improving your refereeing. The tournaments are run smoothly and you always feel looked after both on and off the pitch. Whether youโre a new referee looking to build confidence or someone with experience wanting to challenge yourself in a different environment, Referee Abroad is a fantastic opportunity. Itโs rare to find a programme that combines professionalism with such an inclusive, family-like community โ but this one does exactly that. Highly recommended.+2Posted on Google![]()
