The Stockholm Football Cup has become one of Scandinavia’s most exciting international youth tournaments, welcoming hundreds of teams to the Swedish capital each summer. Organised by Enskede IK, the tournament combines competitive football with the unique atmosphere of Stockholm, creating an unforgettable experience both on and off the pitch.
For referees, the Stockholm Football Cup offers the opportunity to officiate international matches in a professional and fast-growing tournament environment while enjoying one of Europe’s most vibrant summer cities. With teams from across the world, high-quality facilities, and a strong focus on fair play and development, the event continues to grow as a popular destination for ambitious referees seeking both experience and adventure.
Not included
To be eligible to referee at the Stockholm Football Cup, referees must normally be at least 16 years old, while officials under 18 may require parental authorisation. Selected referees will be accommodated in local schools together with other international participants and will receive meals throughout the tournament. Public transportation within Stockholm is included, allowing referees to easily travel between venues and experience the city during the event.
Throughout the tournament, Referee Abroad staff and experienced observers will be present to support officials both on and off the field. The Stockholm Football Cup offers not only a high-level international refereeing experience, but also an excellent opportunity for personal development, cultural exchange, and networking with referees from around the world.
Referees at the Stockholm Football Cup will be accommodated either in local schools together with other international participants or, for those seeking additional comfort, in twin hotel rooms available at an additional cost of approximately 25 EUR per night.
School accommodation is based on shared classroom-style dormitories, offering referees a social and international tournament atmosphere, while the hotel option provides a more comfortable and private stay during the event in the Swedish capital.
When visiting Stockholm during the Stockholm Football Cup, referees and participants will have the chance to experience one of Scandinavia’s most beautiful and vibrant capitals. Explore the picturesque streets of Gamla Stan, the city’s historic old town filled with colourful buildings, cafés, and royal landmarks, or visit the impressive Royal Palace and nearby waterfront areas.
For entertainment and relaxation, Gröna Lund amusement park offers rides and live concerts in a unique seaside setting, while Skansen, the world’s oldest open-air museum, provides a glimpse into traditional Swedish culture and history. Football visitors can also enjoy Stockholm’s many islands, parks, and beaches, perfect for summer evenings after matches.
The city also offers excellent shopping, museums such as the famous Vasa Museum, and a lively international atmosphere throughout the summer. Combining football with culture, nature, and Scandinavian hospitality, Stockholm provides an unforgettable tournament experience both on and off the pitch.
Stockholm is primarily served by Stockholm Arlanda Airport (IATA: ARN), Sweden’s largest international airport, located around 40 km north of the city centre. Arlanda welcomes major international airlines, low-cost carriers, and connections from across Europe and beyond, making it easily accessible for referees travelling from many different countries.
From Arlanda Airport, visitors can reach central Stockholm via the high-speed Arlanda Express train in approximately 18 minutes, or by regular airport buses and commuter trains at lower cost. Public transportation in Stockholm is modern, reliable, and well connected, allowing easy travel throughout the city and to tournament venues.
Stockholm is also well connected by rail to other Scandinavian capitals. Frequent trains operate from Copenhagen and Malmö, while connections from Oslo are also available. Sweden’s high-speed rail network further links Stockholm with Gothenburg and other major cities, offering referees multiple convenient travel options for reaching the tournament.

A fantastic experience with Referee Abroad, thanks to the opportunity to take part in both the Donosti Cup and the Porto International Cup. Two international tournaments that provided an extraordinary opportunity for both refereeing and personal growth. The professionalism and excellent organisation, together with the opportunity to interact with referees and football communities from different countries, made both experiences truly unique. I highly recommend Referee Abroad to any referee looking to develop, challenge themselves and experience international football. ⚽️🌍Posted on Google![]()

Referee Abroad has been an outstanding experience from start to finish. The entire organisation has a real family feel, and you’re made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Everyone—staff, mentors, and fellow referees—is incredibly friendly, supportive, and always willing to help you grow. Despite the warm atmosphere, the setup is also very professional. The communication is clear, the organisation is well structured, and the feedback you receive is genuinely useful for improving your refereeing. The tournaments are run smoothly and you always feel looked after both on and off the pitch. Whether you’re a new referee looking to build confidence or someone with experience wanting to challenge yourself in a different environment, Referee Abroad is a fantastic opportunity. It’s rare to find a programme that combines professionalism with such an inclusive, family-like community — but this one does exactly that. Highly recommended.+2Posted on Google![]()
