Leading the team was Matteo Piazza from the Agrigento group of the AIA (Italian Referee Association). Piazza was joined by Ben Farmer from Illinois, USA, and Carwyn Gregory from Brisbane, Australia, who was recognized as the tournament’s best assistant referee. The fourth official, Jorge Acosta from Barranquilla, Colombia, completed this remarkable ensemble.

Adding an Asian touch to the diverse team, Osamu Asakusa, a distinguished match official in Japan’s J-League, observed and evaluated the crew. This inclusion highlighted the wide geographical reach of Referee Abroad and enriched the officiating experience with diverse perspectives.
