In a significant boost for refereeing excellence, Italian Serie A referees Daniele Chiffi and Luca Zufferli made a notable impact at the IberCup Estoril as distinguished mentors. This initiative, facilitated by our ongoing partnership with the Italian Referees Association (AIA, Associazione Italiana Arbitri), emphasizes a shared commitment to advancing refereeing standards globally.
Daniele Chiffi, a respected FIFA referee with a wealth of experience in international and domestic competitions, and Luca Zufferli, contributed their expertise throughout the tournament. Chiffi had the honor of kicking off the tournament during the opening meeting, setting the tone for a successful event. Both Chiffi and Zufferli, who were accompanied by a group of 20 young referees from AIA, observed various matches and provided invaluable feedback to emerging officials.
While there was no formal masterclass, the presence of Chiffi and Zufferli offered a unique opportunity for referees to gain insights directly from top-tier professionals. Their feedback focused on crucial aspects of refereeing such as game management, decision-making, and referee development.
Our President, Daniele Curcio, extends heartfelt thanks to the AIA. “We are deeply grateful to the President, Vice President, and the entire national committee of AIA for their support in sending Daniele Chiffi and Luca Zufferli along with the group of young referees. Their participation has greatly enriched the IberCup Estoril, and their support is invaluable to our mission of developing refereeing talent.”
This collaboration between Referee Abroad and AIA highlights the dedication of both organizations to fostering global refereeing talent. The involvement of esteemed officials like Chiffi and Zufferli underscores our ongoing efforts to elevate refereeing standards and support the professional growth of referees worldwide.
